Kinja'd!!!

Another day, another “You’ll Never Believe The Cars That Show Up In [insert Japanese parking facility here]” clickbaity title.

I mean, yeah. These are pretty crazy cars. Japanese car culture is certainly interesting. But no one is surprised anymore, right?

Whats funny is that most of these cars are relatively tame by Itasha standards.

I actually really enjoy Saito’s articles... and I live in Japan lol. This country is full of awesome stuff that are waiting to be shown/broadcasted... I just wish Jalopnik saw “car reviews” as something else other than numbers and random anecdotes, but well, we’re on another subject here... :)

In the overall scheme of clickbaity rubbish and nonsensical Beetle-based ephemera which normally cloud the front page, I’ve got to say that Saito’s articles are actually a breath of fresh air to me.

I guess I’m not saying I don’t like the content.... it’s a fine line. I think the headlines are a little click-baity. But then, how else do you describe the craziness that is Japanese car culture, compared with a lot of what we see in the US anyway. At a minimum, it’s crazy to us because it’s different.

I will say, I like looking at the cars. The content isn’t my issue, but the headline implies there’s some degree of shock to be had, and it’s not that. It’s just a different sub-culture we in the US don’t get to see much.

I will say I like looking at the cars. But I object to the headlines...

I’m not a big fan of the articles that make fun of those cars because “it’s a shame to ruin such a car” or some bull like that, I might not agree with the changes they made, but it’s cool to look at.

You do bring up a valid point, some people write whole articles, have series of articles and unless it somehow makes “popular on opposite lock” it’s going to get buried. Actual articles that take actual time, should have a way to be different, and not get burried by people saying “Hello” or “saw a car”

I think this is why we lose genuinely talented writers like SeatSafetySwitch...
